1991-1995 – Department of International Economic Relations of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic, Deputy Chief

1995 – 2001 - National Bank, Chief of Department, Executive Director

2001 - 2006 – State Oil Fund of the Azerbaijan Republic, Executive Director.

2003 – 2006 Chairman of the Goverment Commission on the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, dealing with the extraction of the mineral resources.
April 2006 – present - Minister of Finance of the Azerbaijan Republic.

Marital status: Married, has two children.
